Budapest

Budapest, the capital city of Hungary is really beautiful with the lovely castle like from the movies, amazing old churches, astonishing squares, brilliant bridges, breathtaking avenues, awesome museums and a lot of other interesting things.

You can find an overview of the city here and find out about current events here.

Public transport:

As the building is in the city centre, you can acces it by:

tram 4,6,47 bus: 105, 107, metro: 1,2,3 (Deák tér)

you can use all vehicles with a ticket, the easiest way to buy one is with the following app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.webvalto.bkkfutar&hl=hu&gl=US

You should register for it, but after registration you also get the invoice by email. You have to valide them QR code, the QR code you find at the door of bus, tram, or by the entrance of the metro. You can also buy paper-based tickets at the automats by most of the stations.

The most popular cards to get (at the time of writing) are:

All vehicles needs the same type of single ticket for use, only AIRPORT ticket is separate. You can also buy this in app. You can go from the airport by bus 108 to the city centre directly (40 min) or by taxi, it is about 9000 HUF (forint), there is an official taxi at the airport.

Currency in Budapest:

Hungary is not part of the eurozone, Hungary's official currency is Hungarian Forint (HUF),  1 EURO is about 400 forint. Many stores and other places accept Euro as well,

Euro ATMs are EVERYWHERE in Budapest that accept major debit cards or credit cards. It makes convenient to withdraw money. But their exchange rate is very high. You can change money at a currency exchange place or at a Hungarian bank.  You can also pay by debit or credit cards in most stores, but in marketplaces and small shops, it is good to have some cash available.
